The Hongkong Government announced this morning that the curfew imposed on Kowloon last night would be continued indefinitely but would be lifted for two- hour periods in six zones to allow people to buy essential food supplies.
Troops lined the streets of the first zone as the curfew was lifted and crowds poured into the street to visit shops. Gurkhas took up positions along Nathan Road.
