With the closing of accounts for the half year, trading on the Stock Exchange slackened off this week and the list was inclined to be fractionally lower, although the undertone was fairly steady.
Perhaps the most important feature this week was that despite the calls for a total of $21 millión by two big Utility companies (payable by tomorrow) utilities kept fairly steady throughout the week,

This was because of support by Chinese banks, And yesterday the rates for Electric and Telephone to $21.50 and rights hardened--Electrics by 10 cents Telephones by 20 cents to $14.10.
Turnover dropped sharply from $6.8 million to $4.61 million, but brokers believed this was because of the closing of accounts. They feel business will pick up with the opening of the new account next week.
The adjoining panel shows a list with 15 Talla, eight rises with slx steady whereas last week there were 22 rises, three falls with four stendy.
On the whole this week's declines are fractional and range between 10 and 25 cents.
Profit-inking stopped the market rise Just Friday and during this week share prices moved narrowly around the slightly lower levels.
