PAPER LIBELLED: JUDGMENT AGAINST
DEFENDANTS
An article alleging libel against the New Life Evening Post, Ltd. and Mr Marshall J. Stayner, an American and a director of that Com- pany, contained in the paper, the Truth Daily News of May 15, 1955, was admitted as a libel by Mr Patrick Yu, Counsel for the proprietor, editor and printers of the Truth Daily News, before Mr Justice J. Reynolds in the Supreme Court this morning.
Mr Yu also tendered an apology to the plaintiffs in the form as agreed between the parties.
The New Life Evening Post, Ltd. and Mr Marshall claimed $100,000 and $200,000 damages respectively, contending that as a result of the article they had been injured in their credit and reputation and had suffered damage.
His Lordship entered judgment for the plaintiffs against the défendants in each case with costs, and fixed June 13, 14 and 15 for the hearing on the ques- tion of damages.
