Britain's Randolph Turpin came back on April 17 after a six-month retirement from boxing to stop Italian cruiserweight Alessandro d'Ottavio in six rounds at Birmingham, England,
D'Otavio had blood pouring from a cut over his left oyo, and at the end of the round referee Fred Blakeborough ended the fight on doctor's advice.
That was the start of the excitement. D'Ottavio, half-blinded by bloud, leaped off his sent and chased Blakeborough serom the ring until the referee's back was against the ropes.
"Listen,” shouted d'Ottavio. **Listen to me. I speak Englisch. 1 light on." But Blake borough shook his head to show that, so far as he was concerned, the fight was over.
Then d'Ostavio started prancing up and down in front of him, He went on until Turpin forced his way between the two men and wrestled d'Ottarlo away.
Said d'Ottavio's manager, Luigi Proletti: "In boxing you get cuts.
You must expect them. If you stop fghia because of cuts then boxing is dead,”
Although Turpin's comeback has started successfully, sportswriter opinion was that he has lost the killer touch. Said one scribe:
he has not the same abilly to land his punches when and where required.”

BRITISH REFEREES
Ernst (Clockwork) Ocwirk, the Austrian footballer who was captain of the FIFA internațional team, makes n bitter attack on British referees in a biography newly published in Vienna, writes Bob Pennington.

Ocwirk goes back to October, 1968, to indict Mervyn Griffiths for his handling of the match in which England snatched a 4-4 draw against FIFA through a last-minute penalty.
