THE CHINA MAIL, THURSDAY, JANUARY

THE "KEEP

Instead of the usual boring scrappy match, the few spectators watch- ing the game between Club and the 271AA (Strange's Coy) were treated to a fast and comparatively exciting struggle on the Club ground yester- day evening, with the Club emerging the deserving victors by 8 points (1 goal, 1 penalty goal) to 5 points (1 converted penalty try).

The Club threes were definitely the better in attack, and when they had the bail they invariably looked dangerous, but were inclined to crowd their wings, through The centres running too much across field and not drawing their men before passing

Trial Grand

Prix

Sunday's 44 Mile Time Trial Grand Prix for the 'San Miguel Shield' only attracted a field of ten riders, last year's winners being absent, the 7 Hussars. The event took the riders over the Twisk into Kowloon, turn- ing back along the Taipo Road over Route 2, to finish at the starting point.

Fastest time honours of the day went to Ron Beck whose lime of 2-3-57 was a Colony record, beating the previous record also held by Beck by one minute and forty-two seconds. Slowest time was put up by 7 Hussars' Cock who in the past two or three events has had no team support. His time 2-48-11 was a meritorious ride indeed. With little more experience, Cock could be a little faster and may well finish among the leaders in the near future.
