EUROPEAN TEENAGER SUES SOLDIER FOR BREACH OF PROMISE

Pregnant with child, 17-year-old Miss Gloria Elizabeth Franklin' brought a breach of promise suit at the Kowloon District Court this morning against Cpl David McComish, of Command Workshop, REME. She testified that he had twice promised to marry her, and twice broken his promise.

Suing by "her next friend", her father, Chief Petty Officer R. G. Franklin of the Royal Navy, Miss Franklin also instituted action for damages against Lt-Col Leslie Norman Morris, Commanding Officer of Cpl McComish.

Her solicitor, Mr M. A. da Silva, în his opening before Judge W. - T. Charles, declared that the case "bristled with sordid, ugly facts" concerning `un- justifiable interference by Col Morris in the domestic affairs of a young couple. The interference, he alleged, had turned Cpl McComish from a man who wrote love letters to the young girl he loved into a despicable young rascal.
