DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP

By “TOUCHER”

Which shall be the premier lawn bowls club for the 1955 season- Recreio, Kowloon Cricket Club, or Craigengower Cricket Club?

That question may well be answered this afternoon when all the three top contenders for the Colony's First Division League Championship- take to the greens in two crucial matches.

Current League-leaders Kowloon Cricket Club will be involved in what may furn out to be the deciding match of the season when they entertain second-placed and present-holders Recreio "Blues" on their own green at Cox's Road.

The Cricket Club now lead by only the slender margin of half a point. This will mean that every point gained by either team in this afternoon's match

will be worth double its value in the rointive positioning of the two teams.

New York, July 15.

America will make a much better showing in women's track and field athletics at the 1956 Olympics than ever before in the opinion of Dan Ferris, veteran Secretary of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU), who has seen all the greats for many years.

"We have made terrific progress in women's track," said Ferris in an interview in his office. "There is great interest around the country as a result of the Junior Olympic Programme, a programme which gave girls from 13 to 17 years old a meet for the first time.

RECORD RUN "FIAT 600" CALCUTTA – ROME (8230 miles in 17 days)

FIAT 000

Two standard FIAT 600 cars, driven by the team Martignoni, Mazzucchelll; Rabezzano and Racco, have covered the distance between Calcutta and Rome (via Trieste), 6230 miles, in. eleven days, putting up an average daily run of 784 miles..

This is a truly extraordinary performance for a small car like the 600, showing magnificent driving skill and brilliant stamina of the little cars on a gruelling journey across, vast stretches, of desert, on almost impossible tracks, extremely rough roads, through floods and storms of wind and rain in tropical temperatures.
