BRITAIN'S TWO FASTEST TWO FASTEST MILERS WILL NOT MEET AT AAA CHAMPIONSHIPS
1
By “RECORDER"
Britain's two fastest Milers, Chris Chataway and Brian Hewson, both of whom broke the four-minute barrier earlier this year, will not meet in the AAA Championships at the White City, London, on July 15 and 18.
Brian Hewson, who is not Britain's fastest Half-Miler, will be defending his Half Mile Championship. Derek Johnson, who is Britain's fastest Half Miler, will be, It is understood, confining himself to the defence of his 440 Yards Championship, Chris Chataway, who is Britain's fastest Miler, will confine himself to an attempt to recapture the Three Miles Championship.

that any of Britain's world class distance runners will attempt to compete in both events. It will be quite a job winning a plate in just one.
