GOLF REMAINS THE UNIVERSAL LETTER OF INTRODUCTION

Says HENRY LONGHURST

While I have never sought to influence grown-ups to take up the game of golf if they feel no natural urge to do so, I have often caught myself preaching to the text that it should be a compulsory subject in the education of the young, or at any rate the adolescent male.

I find myself referring to golf as the Esperanto of sport, the universal letter of introduction and so on, and without being over-pompous about. it. I still believe it

is.
