The first Hongkong Festival of the Arts was officially opened by Lady Grantham this morning at 11 a.m. The ceremony took place at the Festival building on the reclamation site, which has been most attractively decorated with large panels by Michael Griffith and Madeleine Pearson.

A short recorded report on the ceremony can be heard at 8.15 this evening, with extracts from the speeches to be made by Lady Grantham, Janet Tomblin, the Chairman of the Central Committee for the Festival, and Mr John Stericker.
