Memories linger on of Roger Bannister's four-minute Mile; of lion-heart Chris Chataway pipping Vladimir Kuts at the White City post; of Stanley Matthews, pulling even more tricks out of the bag despite his 39 years; of Jaroslav Drobny-the inimitable 'Droh'--bringing tears to the eyes of tennis fans, on Wimbledon's Centre Court, by succeeding at last where They and many so often he had failed. They will not be forgotten. others

New York, Jan. 6.

Mr Al Weill, Manager of World Heavyweight Boxing Champion, Rocky Marciano, said here today he was con- eldering "quite seriously" the offer made by British boxing promoter Jack Solomons for a title defence against England's Champion, Don Cockell, in London in April or May this year.

Solomonis, in a cable from Johannesburg, South Africa, offered $300,000 (£107,100) to Marciano for the contest.

Weill today shphasised that the condition of Morelano's nose was the determining factor In considering Solomons offer. He explained that Marciano's nose was "pretty badly" cut in his last bout with Ezzard Charles hero last September, and al- though it was healing nicely, he did not want to test it out In the ring.
