Mountaineers From Four Countries Heading
For
Other High Peaks
Katmandu, Nepal, Sept. 6.
After the conquest of the two highest peaks in the world, Everest and K2, mountaineers from four different countries are now heading for the next four highest peaks.
During this autumn and next spring, British, German, French and Austrian expeditions will attempt Kanchenjunga (28,168 feet), Lhotse (27,890), Makalu (27,790 feet) and Cho Oyu (26,750 feet).
Earlier this year a British expedition" reconnoîtred Kanchenjunga, the world's third highest peak and one of the most difficult mountains of all to climb. The expedition reported that it had found a feasible way up the mountain and the main attempt will be made next spring.
