BETTER JUDGMENT PREVAILED
THE CHINA MAIL, SATURDAY, JUNE 26, 1954.
A SHANK COMING UP!
TOM SNEDDON CAN NOW FINALLY SETTLE DOWN TO
HIS JOB
By I. M. MacTAVISH
The news that the Hongkong Football Association was 'big' enough to reverse its previous decision in respect of the engagement of Mr Tom Sneddon as official coach has been received with satisfaction by everyone who has the real good of HONGKONG football at heart.
From the moment the first decision was made known I have felt that it was so obviously a retrograde one that better judgment would eventually prevail. That bellef was apparently shared by many and, I think it is true to say, that people who at first saw it the other way soon realised the full significane of the matter.. especially after they had had time to sit down and consider the full implications of The decision that had been made.

Don't do this Don't let your hands—and club— fall back at the top of your swing as I have done in this attempt at a short approach shot.
To come into the ball from this position I have to throw the clubhead well outside its normal are to the ball and the odds are I will produce a shank.
Note how badly I have allowed my left elbow to get away from my hody and how at my hands are. They should be well under the shaft at this stage of the stroke.

Since when have we been the football "masters"? The "Shank"-A Golfer's Nightmare, But Don't Let It Worry You
By BERNARD HUNT
Three different people have been along to ask me last week for the best cure
for a “shank.” Apparently this horror of golf is rampant again, so 1 think we should uttempt the cure this week.
First of all the "shank," or the "socket" shot is that terrifying affliction which suddenly strikes even the best players and for gome apparently unne- countable reason makes the ball squirt off the pipe or shaft of the club at an anglo of 45 degrees-usually just when you intend to plant that pitch shot within a foot of the pin.
