WEALTH OF NEW TALENT IN SCHOOLBOYS' BADMINTON TOURNEY

By "ARGONAUT"

A wealth of new talent and an improved standard of badminton were the gratifying features of the opening games of the 1954 Colony Schoolboys' and Schoolgirls' Open Championships at the Queen's College courts yesterday.

The most impressive display was by Chu Sal-wah of Pui Chung School. Competing in the junior class, Chu accounted for DBS's Sion Dung-shun by 15-0 and 18-17 and during the two-sei game showed himself to be a good miniature of shuttle king Wong Peng-soon in bulld, footwork, strokes and court mannerisms.

Under proper conching, the honours went to Manfred Kars of Schoolboys Junior-Singles: Pui Chung player is a safe bet Kwong 11sia and Chan Hung- Trường Siu-on (WYK) con not only to garner the Colony kwang of Wah Yang Hengkongceded a walkover to Leo Legasbl title in five or six years' time [bel of when enjoyed

There Are Too Many Mr Grundys' In The Golf World

Says JEAN DONALD

Men --- even the most gallant of them — are apt to look on women as a nuisance on the golf course. I want to join the issue with them on that score. It's high-time the woman player had a champion -- and I mean to tackle the job!

I've been playing golf since I was about six years old, and I know how much encouragement our girls --- from beginners to experts -' need.
