SPIRITED FIGHTING AT LAND FORCES BOXING CHAMPIONSHIPS
By OUR BOXING CORRESPONDENT
The finals of the Land Forces Open Individual Boxing Championships were held at Gun Club Barracks yesterday afternoon and the big crowd of spectators enjoyed some really fine and spirited fighting.
The best fight of the afternoon provided the biggest upset of the day when # systematic Pte. Curran, a Royal Scot attached to the Welch Regiment, gave beating to Bdr. Baker of 26 Fd. Regt. RA.

Sabina Park, where the first of the current cricket Test series between the West Indies and England was played, has neither the tradition nor the grandeur of Lord's, and is only a quarter of the size of the Melbourne Stadium, but I am prepared to argue that it houses the liveliest crowd in the world.
There is room for 12,000 inside the ground and about 500 in the topmost branches of the coconut and palm trees outside.

THREE PROBLEMS FACE LANDY IN HIS QUEST FOR THE FOUR-MINUTE MILE
Sydney, Jan. 21. Australia's John Landy will have earned fame the hard way if he ever beats the clock and runs a four-minute Mile because he has got three other obstacles to overcome.
•
Experts here say Landy is faced with these problems on the hard road to being the world's fastest man over a Mile:

This bad luck has convinced many
that: Athletic followers John must be given a chance to run in the evening at twilight when conditions are better. Landy agrees with this to the extent that he thinks it's his only hope of running
