All Caution And

By GEORGE WHITING

How did the Queen relax during her few, so very few, off-duty days before departing on her Commonwealth tour? At least one of those days was spent quietly at spacious and gracious Warren Place, Newmarket, where Landau, the classic black coll we citizens have leased to Her Majesty from the National Stud, is wintering well on the best oats money can buy.

JOHANNESBURG TEST

New Zealanders

Within Reach Of Victory

Johannesburg, Dec. 29.

New Zealand need 165 runs, with seven wickets in hand, to beat South Africh in the second Test and win their first Test against any country,

The position at the close of play yesterday was: South Africa-271 and 148; New Zealand-187 and 68 for three.

A win is well within the reach of New Zealand today -the final day--with their captain and opening batsman, Geoff Rabone, still batting after 143 minutes and dynamic John Reid still to cofne,

South Africa's 148 yesterday 'was their lowest total in Tests

against Now Zealand.

Rabone defended grimly yesterday afternoon, moving re- solutely into a lifting ball trom Nel! Adcock and absorbing blows willinchingly on hip, arms and shoulders.

He was repeating his great effort in the first Test, when he made 107 in the first innings and 48 in the second
