Results of a poll taken among French news- papers representing 40 per cent of the French dailies disclosed today that only 19 per cent of the papers polled believed the European Defence Community project was "good" but 47 per cent believed it "acceptable" and 26 per cent considered it "bad."

Opinion on Britain's participation in E.D.C. was fairly evenly divided, with 53 per cent con- sidering it a necessary condition and 47 belleving that it was not, according to the poll which was conducted by a French poll-taking organisation.
