BREAD KNIFE AS EXHIBIT IN MURDER TRIAL

A bread knife, 14 inches long and weighing eight ounces was exhibited in Court as the weapon with which Chan Kau, 26, on trial before Mr Justice C. W. Reece in the Criminal Sessions this morning for the murder of Chan Fook, a former Royal Naval Dockyard employee, was alleged to have used to hack the deceased to death in a gang fight in Nathan Road-Argyle Street on the night of July 23 last.

It was alleged by the Crown that the original plan was for one gang to administer a "good thrashing" on another rival gang, but that during the fight accused (who was not a member of either side) was seen hacking deceased with a chopper.
