An extraordinary general meeting of the Amateur Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hongkong yesterday falled to reach agreement by a two-thirds majority on whether the Chinese Amateur Athletic Federation should be ruled an Honorary Member of the ASF & OC or a full paying member.
Since the ASF & OC of Hongkong came into being .. the CAAF has enjoyed at Ita medlings the curious status of a non-paying member with voting rights. The ASF & OC, internationally recognised as the governing body of amateur sport in Hongkong, has in the interim grown and is endeavouring to follow a policy of limiting member- ship to governing bodies of individual sports only.
However, having regard to the co-operation of the CAAF in the early stages of its growtli, the ASF & OC offered it the alternative of full (paying) membership or honorary mem bership without voting rights.
The Constitution of the ASF & OC has, therefore, been revis- ed and the meeting called yer- lorday was designed to force the Issue by vong in Constitutional amendments If the CAAF main- tained their stand of not wanting 10 pay
