THE CHINA MAIL. FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9, 1953.
HAWTHORN HAS EVEN STAGGERED THE RECORD-BREAKING ITALIANS
It takes a lot to surprise motor racing enthusiasts with matters concerning speed. Roaring down the straight at 150 miles an hour has, not unnaturally, given them a certain casual approach.
But the feat of a young Englishman has staggered them all, even the record- breaking Italians. His name is Mike Hawthorn, and he has accelerated to the top quicker than he does from the starting line.
