In a speech at a Republican rally in Boston, the President served notice to the people of the United States that its expectation of a tax cut and other alleviations of the burdens brought about by the cold war was not likely to be fulfilled soon. The story of an alleged chopper attack by car cleaner on another over an alleged gambling debt of $5 was related by Crown Counsel when Wan Pak, alias Ah Pak, 26, of no fixed abode, appeared on trial before the Puisne Judge, Mr Justice C. W. Reece in the Criminal Sessions this morning on a charge of wounding with intent to murder.
It was alleged that the complainant, Lai Pui-yau, sustained 17 chopper wounds which bled so profusely that; If according to medical evidence they had not been attended to immediately would have been fatal. Lai was in hospital for 29 days.
