BEST PERFORMANCES BY BRITISH COMMONWEALTH AND EMPIRE ATHLETES

Recent outstanding performances by British athletes include Gordon Piric's new British and Empire Two Miles record of 8 minutes 47.8 seconds made at the floodlit City Charities Meeting at the White City, London, on September 9.

At the same meeting, the veteran Bill Nankeville, running against Audun Boysen of Norway and Nils Toft of Sweden, returned his fastest ever time for the Mile 4 minutes 7,4 seconds to bent Boysen in an inches finish with Toft third in 4:09.4.
