Britain scored her first success for 16 years in the International Cross Country Race at Vincennes, France, on March 21. With such men as track champion Gordon Pirie, and Jim Peters, of Marathon fame, in the British team, the win was expected.
But, though these men played their part in what is essentially a team event, neither was Britain's hero of the day. The honour belongs to Frank Sando, who came second in the race and was the first Briton home.
