HONGKONG ELECTRIC CO. ANNUAL MEETING Good Prospects Of Dealing With All Power Demands
"From the technical point of view we are much better placed than at any time since we recommenced operations in 1945. Provided our manu- facturers keep within a reasonable margin of their delivery dates it is anticipated that we shall continue to meet all demands for electric power which we may be called upon to supply within the foreseeable future", said Mr J. D. Alexander, Chairman of the Hongkong Electric Company, Ltd.,, when he addressed the sixtieth ordinary yearly meeting of shareholders today.
Mr Alexander also stressed that as in previous years the load on the generating station had shown a substantial increase, rising from a maximum demand of 42,000 kw in 1951 to 47,000 kw last year. Sales of kilowatt hours had risen to 182 million, an increase of 11% over the pre- vious. year.
