Hongkong yesterday broke through the deadlock of three successive drawn games since the inception of the one-year-old Aw Hoe Cup interport soccer series against Singapore with a convincing 3-0 triumph to become the first direct holders of the trophy.

The first Pentathlon competition staged in the Colony's athletic history attracted 17 competitors to the Hongkong Amateur Athletic Club's first athletic match at King George V School yesterday and the competition was very keen.
