A mysterious British soldier of fortune, re- ported killed more than two years ago while fight- ing with the Karen Communist rebels, today was said to be still alive.
The Burma War Office produced documents captured from the Karens establishing that Cap- tain D. Vivian was alive as late as December 15 and was still operating with the Rebels.
A former engineer officer in the Indian Army, Captain Vivian was sentenced to 111⁄2 years' imprisonment by the Burmese Civil Court in 1948 on charges of fraudulently obtain- ing 200 Bren guns.
