LONDON COMMENT ON

ISRAELI

PROTEST

London, Dec. 29.

Official sources said today that Britain still regards the 1936 Anglo-Egyptian Treaty, which was abrogated by Egypt in October, 1951, as being fully effective and that British policy is to carry out fully the terms of that Treaty.

This was made clear by official comments on the protest made by Israel's Foreign Minister, Mr Moshe Sharrett, against the delivery of arms to Arab States by Britain and the United States.

"Britain has

treaties with many times before laid claim three of the Arab countries— | to the territory. Egypt, Iraq and Jordan,

Manchester, Dec. 29.

Leaders of Lancashire's cotton industry hit back today at criticisms of apathy and com- placency levelled against them by the United States productivity team which visited the area last year.

The American report was produced by a dele- gation of managers and workers after a three- weeks investigation..

"They seem to have mado some sweeping museruons on a very limited experience, sald Mr G. B. Fielding, Director of the Cotton Spinners and Manu- facturers Association.

"There is no reference to all tho new developments that have been carried out in Lancashire and they do not reem to have appreciated the difficulties of the post-war period in this country."

Sir John Gray, Chaloman of the Lancashire Cotton Corpora tion, described the report a5 "smug and self-satisfied" doclared:
