Radio Hongkong Relaying Description Of
State Opening Of Parliament
+
The State Opening of Parliament, one of the| most impressive of Britain's traditional pageants, | 12.00 takes places on Tuesday when Her Majesty the Queen drives in state to open Parliament for the first time in lier reign.
The Royal procession to the Palace of West- minster will be described by three BBC com- mentators, Audrey Russell, Henry Riddell, and Wynford Vaughan Thomas, as it follows the 'Royal Route' down the Mall, across Horse Guards Parade into Whitehall, round Parliament Square, and to the Norman Gateway, the Sovereign's entrance to the House of Lords, where the Lord Chancellor waits to escort the Queen.
In the rich splendour of the House of Lords, to which Blach Röd will duly summon the Commons, the Queen will deliver the Speech from the Throne which is by tradition an outline of Government policy for the coming Parliamentary session.
On Tuesday night at 6.30,
isteners in Hongkong will hear.
relay from, Landon of the
Royal Procession.
"Down Memory Lane". Aileen Wonds' ever popular programme, celebrates ta Fifth Anniversary on this coming Tuesday. We need ray little of the next edition here, for surely there is hardly a listener to Radio Hongkong
who does not enjoy his or her weekly reminisce' with Aileen. But we will say that she herself hos been acting mysterious' wild Bately, and the proverbial
hores could drag no more, from her than that she has a big fur- prise in store for her listeners
this Tuesday.
