WHAT NEXT FOR WILLIAMS?
By DEREK JOHN
Johnny Williams, Britain's Empiro Heavy- weight Boxing Champion, is to have his fourth bout of the year at Harringay on December 10, His opponent will be a leading American heavyweight, at present unnamed.
High on the lat of possibles are Harry Matthews, who was beaten earlier this year by Marçlano, or Rex Layne, another top-ranker. Either would give Williams his toughest light to date.
The Duke of Edinburgh will be at the ringside to Eco for himself what chance the Rugby boy has of bringing the world titie back to Britain.
It is to be hoped that the Duke sees a beltér performance than that which Williams gave when: defeating the South African, Johnny Arthur, in de- fence of his tile, at Leicester.
The burly, heavy-footed South African was virtually a sitting target for anything that the sprightly Williama cored to throw at him.
But Williams obviously had not the slightest intention of

He refused to get into close quarters. Instead he contented himself with a series of straight lefts that reduced his opponent's face to a bloody pulp.
WOULDN'T CHANCE IT
From Round Three onwards it WAN obvious that unicas Williams did something unex- pooted, like running into one of the ring posts, he could not lose. But still, with tho South African at his mercy, he did not chance his right band, as his supporters were hoping he would do.
