AUSTRALIAN PARADE INTO THE QUARTER-FINALS AT FOREST HILLS

Rosewall Beats Seixas And Hoad Beats Art Larsen

Forest Hills, N.Y., Sept. 4.

>

Young Ken Rosewall and Low Hood, fast footed Aussie youngsters, doomed America's Davis Cup hopes today with smashing upsets over top- seeded Vic Seixas and the former Champion, Art Larsen, to lead four Australians into the quarter-finals.

The Australians played with the sharp shooting skill and iron nervod aplomb of seasoned campaigners to score the smashing upsets, Rosewall beating Seixas 3-6, 6-2, 7-5, 6-7, 6-3 and Hoad blasting Larsen 6-3, 6-4, 6-4.

It was an Aussie parade when the defending Champion, Frank Sedgman, flattened veteran Bill Talbert 6-1, 6-3, 6-3 and the fourth Australian, Mervyn Rose, moved in among the eight survivors by whipping Bernard Bartzen (US), 6-2, 6-2, 6-1.

Little Ken Rosewall, grilly 17-year-old with the poise of veteran, scored one of the most smashing upsets in the history of the United States Tennis Championships when he knock ed off top-seeded Vie Seixas.

Rauked only seventh among the foreign challengers for the national title, Rosewall, whose greatest net accomplishment to date was winning the Australian Junior crown, stunned a crowd of 8,000 as ha eliminated the top US player.
