"Still Life" centres around an interlude, as it were, in the lives of two people doctor and a woman, both happily married, who meet by chance and fall in love. The unhappy and very human theme of this play finds its relief in the light-hearted back-chat of the supporting cast: the ticket-collector, the barmaid, and all the other characters who belong to or find their way into the railway station refreshment room which is the weekly scene of the play.

12.32 PAUL LINCHE MELODIES.

This progamine; unde ayajı able through the courtesy of the BBC, was received by air from Helsinki late yesterday.

The music of "Chu Chin Chow" has been familiar #ince the days of World War I when this colourful, elaborated ver sion of "Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves" drew packed audiences to His Majesty's Theatre, Lon- den, in a steidy stream from 1010 until the early 1920's. At 8:30 tonight, however, listeners will be able to hear the words of the songs and hear the tale re- told, as they are in "The Story of 'Chu Chit Chow which was recorded by the BBC,

In this version of the musical tale of the East, which was the biggest success in the carcer of the well-known actor-manager, Oscar Asche, the part of Abu Hassan is played by Norman Luisden, Marjana the Slave Girl by Lorely Dyer, and Jan van dor Gucht sings Ali Baba.
