Attitude To Trade:

Warning To Exporters

London, July 14:

A warning that British. exporters may lose the valuable and expanding markets of the Colonial territories unless they recognise the Colonies' natural desire to get the best bargains wherever they can be found is contained in a leading article in the current issue of "New Com monwealth.

.

Evidence of what is regarded as a “new era” in Colonial markets is seen in the recent visit to this country of Nigeria's Minister of Commerce, Mr A. C. Nwapa.

According to the magazine,. Mr Nwapa made it clear that, while he was anxious to see how far British manu- facturers could meet Nigeria's requirements for goods now bought in foreign countries, the interests of his countrymen came first. Price, design and quality were the governing faclors.

"New Commonwealth" points out that Mr Nwapa's statement followed closely on the visit to Holland and Britain of a Gold Coast delegation whose primary was to investigate the object possibility of importing pre-cast howes.

Like Nigeria, the Gold Coast is looking for the right price and quailty, combined with assured deliveries.
