Britain's Paavo Nurmi, that is the name being given to 21-year-old bank clerk Gordon Pirie. This tall, slim loose-limbed athlete is certainly one of Britain's brightest hopes for the Olympic Games.

Fifteen England amateurs are among the 20 players chosen for the British Olympic soccer party, for Helsinki-and 11 play for London clubs. The final trials were held at the Kingstonian ground on Saturday, May 31, and the party was on- nounced by the Football Association on June 8,
One of the surprises is the inclusion of Bob Hardisty, Bishop Auckland wing- half or inside-forward,, who captained the Olympic side four years ago.
