ATHENIANS THE THIRD ENGLISH TEAM TO LEAVE HONGKONG UNBEATEN

The Athenian League team, who left Hongkong for Singapore this morning, became the third visiting English side to go away with an unbeaten record.

Playing the last of their three matches in Hongkong yesterday before a capacity .crowd of 12,000, they held the Combined Chinese to no goals in the first half and just managed to wipe off a one-nil deficit barely three minutes from the final whistle to force a 1-1 draw

In fully 80 minutes of high-grade, thrill-packed soccer that redeemed the disappointing previous two games, the Combined Chinese enjoyed almost seven- eighths of the game in the first half and had the ball in the Athenian goalmouth on at least 20 occasions in about 20 of the 40 minutes of the first half.
