POKFULAM DAIRY FARM LIKELY END OPERATIONS AFTER 1956
TO
CAN ONLY BE SAVED BY RADICAL CHANGE IN GOVERNMENT'S PLANS
Fresh milk supplied to the Colony by the Dairy Farm will probably ccase soon after the end of 1956 unless Government radically alters its plans to take over the Pokfulam area for housing purposes.
At the annual general meeting of the Company this morning the Chairman, the Hon. P. S. Cassidy, said that as far as the Board could see there was no alternative to the closure.
Mr H. Owen Hughes, seconding the Chairman's report, said that he viewed the prospect of the fertile land on this naturally barren island, being resumed after 60 years of operation with grave concern..
The turnover, working profit and net profit of the Company were the highest on record.
A dividend of $2.58 per share, less tax, was declared.
It was proposed by Mr D. 12.suit of such Strellett and seconded by De in Iton. 9. N. Chau that Mr ́E, H. 'Hi) pe, re-elected a Director and Mr J. D. Clague be Director,
