Japan's bid to regain top place in the world textile markets is meet- ing with severe, but possibly temporary, setbacks.

Manufacturers say that British interests have nothing to fear from Japanese competitors, at least in the near future. Foreign textile experts here agree that numerous unfavourable factors must temporarily seriously hamper Japan's textile exports.
