A WOMAN'S WALK
CAN BE AS ENCHANTING AS A WALTZ

By MARILYN MARSHALL
WOMAN'S walk can be as enchant- ing as a waltz. Take it from charm- ing Sally De Marco of ballroom fame,

There are three basle things to be learned, Nays Hally, about walking.
1 There must be a sense of pushing out with

Soon, you will begin to sense the correctness of this way of carrying yoursel-so much so that when you vary the step, you will know you are off balance and you will not like it.
"Danclag," says Sally, "Is almost exactly the same as walking. Tony and I do a great deal of walking wherever we happen to be. We belleve strongly in walking-also in our dances, There are whole sections where we do nothing but a rhythmic walking. Of course, there are mony dancers who do not believe in walking at all-as an exercise, that, is. Our good frioui Gene Kelly, is an example. He tells me he nover walks if he can help it. He believes t
is better for his muscles. So you see, anything
I say is a matter of personal opinion."

For a woman who has to take care of her feet, Sally has definite ideas about "flats," She doesn't like them: she adores high heels; she does insist that a shoe be made well and filted perfectly to the foot but once these high-priced shoes are fashioned, she is quite convinced that any person is more likely to walk beautifully. Also, she believes that high-heels are better. for the feet and particularly for the fool with the high instep. It's Sally's opinion that flat shoes tend to flatten the arch and, moreover, are less flattering than high heels.
Sally does all her dancing, walking and everyday Uving in high heels. She has come to believe that well made high heeled shoe may actually improve the structure and shape of the leg and, strange commentury, that wolk-
