Compulsory Service Tribunal Hears
11 More Objectors
The Compulsory Service Tribunal this morning heard 11 more objectors. It refused three objections, adjourned four cases for further medical examination and allowed four men to be transferred from service in the Royal Hongkong Defence Force to the Essential Services 'Corps.
In many of the cases grounds of objection were medical unfitness and the Assistant Director of Manpower, Mr V. F. Clarke, agreed with the Tribunal that under the new stricter standards of the Defence Force the medical gradings of some of the objectors would disqualify them.
The Tribunal comprised Mr Justice Gould as Judge with Mr John MacNeill, QC, and Mr Ho Slew-Um as Assessors,
The Tribunal refused the ab- jections of Fung Ram-chung, 21, manager of the Che Sans, Co. to the Defence Force, of Au Shing-cheong 19, student of Wah Yan College, to the Auxillary Medical Service, and of Robert Lee Ho 20. bank clerk, to the Auxiliary, Medical Service.
i
out that the medical report was↑ satisfactory, ut Fung said he could not stand any big noise. Even the firecrackers during the Chinese New Year frightened him. This, he supposed, was due to a weak heart although he had not consultest a doctor about it.
Fung also put forward the ground or conscientious ob jection. He caid he hated the ziea of fighting and felt uneasy

Robert Lee Ho, 20, bank clerk, expressed his anxiety to perform some public service, but asked that he be transferred to one that allowed him to be near his home so that he could go back to take care of his wife and family if anything happen.. ed. Mr Gould, asked him whether he knew what he was training tor, because he wanted to go home as such as anything happened.
Ho said he wanted to work in the Civil Aid Service which, he understood would place him in Wanchal near his home,
Mr Clarke informed the Tel- bunal that in an emergency Ho no desert his post, but could must follow the orders of the unit controller.
The Tribunal refused the ob jactica, Mr Gould saying that it might not be impossible that in the Auxillary Medical Service Ho would find a station near his home.
