"C" DIVISION PLAYERS PUT TMINOR PLANETS CHEER UP
UP A BATTLE AT JUNIOR BADMINTON CHAMPIONSHIPS By “ARGONAUT” · ·
Two "C" Division players stood out prominently in yesterday's' Colony Badminton Junior Championship matches at Taikog.
B. A. Brown of Jaguars took seeded player K. Y. Tam to two closely contested sets of a high standard before bowing gracefully out of the tournament, and in another hard-fought and entertaining singles match, P. V. Yap of Craigengower extended his more favoured opponent, M. T. Lam. to the full distance of three sets.
Brown led 6-2 in the first set, but soon found himself against a much stendier opponent, whose gonal footwork, better court coverage and cleaner strokes enabled him to gradually chase up in 5-7, and then forge ahead to 14-7, before closing the Bet 15-8.
In the second set Brown en-line smashes, forced the set to juy- 2-0, 9-3, 18-5 and 13-013-13, lead. The effects of his earlier efforts began to tell on him at this stage and Tamm, with dently drop Shots and forceful side

ROBINSON KEEPS
ON DODGING
By PETER WILSON
"Sugar" Ray Robinson is a schizophrenie* of boxing. In the ring he has been one of the great mechanics of our time, a boxer who can light, a fighter who can box.
But outside the ring-particularly if you're trying to get him into the hemp square-he is as elusive ay an eel dipped' in oil; it's as difficult to pin him down as it is to put a pencil on a flea; and if his word is his bond, then I don't want any Robinson bonds.
