TOO BADLY BY STANDARDS AT ITS ANNUAL SPORTS
By "RECORDER"
Though the general standard at the University Athletic Union's. Annual Athletic Meet on Saturday was not too high, quite a good pro portion of University athletes appear in the up-to-date list appended of best athletic performances in the Colony this year.
The standard was particularly high in the Shot Put-both men's and women's -and it was fairly high in the High Hurdles and Jumps. Of course, the comparison is with local achievement this year and many of the Colony's best athletes have you to make a competitive appearance,
The annual sports over the week-end of Wah Yan, La Sulle and St Stephen's Colleges produced a heartoning display of outstanding performances and a pleasing fenture of the La Salle College Sports was the inclusion of the Hop. Step & Jump and Javelin Throw,
Outside of the shot putters,

During all the thrills and excitements of the Chal- lenge Shield Semi-Finals at Boundary Street and Causeway Bay last Saturday, Army, up at Caroline llll, beat Club 1-0, and quietly stepped Into the leading position in the 1st Division.
Conditions on the Caroline Hill Ground were not conducive to good football, with a hard dry ground and near typhoon strength gusts blowing diagonally across the pitch all afternoon. The ball was corkscrewing and hoth defences found it curling back towards them after many clearances.
