The Egyptian Prime Minister, Aly Maher Pasha, said on Wednesday night that Egypt must enter into "speedy negotiations" with Britain, and that he favoured a collec- tive security pact with the Western Powers.
The Prime Minister said he was anxious to secure the evacuation of British forces and the unity of the Nile Valley under the Egyptian Crown.
"This can only be achieved through speedy negotiations,"
he said.
