Jaguars Consolidate Their Leadership In Chase The Pennant

Jaguara consolidated their leadership in the "A" Division of the Senior Soft- ball League when they subdued a Panda threat by 6-3 with Jock Brown and Vic Pedruco sharing mound honours for the victors, while the Canucks, who spotted a three-run lead over the Madcaps, suddenly burst apart at the seams and allowed the Madcaps to overtake them 198.

The Blackhawks in the Junior loop registered their 18th consecutive win of the current season when they accounted for the Aces 8-2 behind a hitless pitching performance by Rennie Barretto, while the Bantams faded before the Dodgers 26-16 in the cellar battle which was curtailed after five innings of play.

RECREIO LADIES MAINTAIN THEIR LEADERSHIP IN THE HOCKEY LEAGUE

By "OBSERVER"

A goal by Rita Marques ten minutes before the end enabled Club de Recreio to beat the Victorians 1-0 yesterday and thus maintain their leadership in the Ladies' Hockey League.

The Victorians put up a spirited show and had more of the play in the first half. The defence was solid, and Doreen Handyside, at left-half, carried out her assignment of marking Recreio's fast left-winger Stella Correa so well that the Recreio forwards could make no headway in the first half.

With Ann Sainsbury and Jet Borren as the other two halves, the Victorian half-line was easily their strongest department.
