A statement issued by Nac United States European Com- mand Readquarters, deating! with alleged incidens in the Bamberg urea, said.
"Boil the German chief of police and (the American) dis- trict resident officer in Bamberg agree that no such situation as Dr Chord has described exists in the Bamberg area. It is not known what the motive behind Dr Chard's statement is, or whether he has been given the i true facts.

Attack On
Schuman Pool Plan
Bonn, Jan. 10.
The West Ge:man Social Democrat Opposition today launched an all-out offensive against the Schuman Plan for a European coal and steel pool when the bill for its ratification came up for a second reading in Parliament.
Social Democrat speakers criticised the plan in an attempt to persuade the House that it was the wrong road for West Germans.
Parliamentary observers, how.... ever, expected the Chancellor, Dr Konrad Adenauer, would get an adequate majority of 50 to 80 votes, when the climax of the debate comes with a vote on the third reading tomorrow.
•
Supporters of the plan main- tain that if it is passed this will be the West German Parliament's biggest move towards European unity.
The Social Democrats do., not oppose European unity, but say that the Schuman Plan would not bring them prosperity as its supporters claim,➡Reuter.
