Republican Nomination
Washington, Nov. 15,⠀
A rugged three-way contest for the 1951 Re- publican presidential nomination seemed assured today When Göverför Earl Warren of California tossed his hat into the ring.
Mr Warren joined Senator Robert A. Taft, of Ohio, as the only avowed candidates in the field. But like Mr Taft he must reckon with a formidable boom for General Dwight D. Eisenhower who apparently has given his supporters tacit consent to get his bandwagon rolling.
Mr Taft, who held a news con. ference here a few hours after Mir Warren's antiouncement, fald that he would not comment oft other nepirants but "the more the merrier, a far as Ì áth ebil- cerned."
He had a friendly feeling for Mr Warren and favoured keeping Hepublican campälgris Un a friendly basis.
Mr Tait shied away from a query as to whether he thought General Elsenhower should stay in Europe and Bnish his North Atlantic defence job, but he ani with a grin, "No one could do it better or perhaps as well."
A former Kamuna Senator, Mr Harry Darby, one of General Eisenhower's chief boosters, welcomed Mr Warren to the presidential race.
and "He is a fine
