YOLANDE POMPEE BEATS DAVE SANDS ON A TECHNICAL KNOCKOUT Ray Wilding Disappoints
London, Nov. 13.
Yolande Pompee, of Trinidad, the West Indies Cruiserweight Box- ing Champion, beat Dave Sands, of Australia, the British Empire Middle- weight title holder, in a 10-rounds international bout at the Harrin- gay Arena, London, tonight.
The referee stopped the fight in the seventh round.
Pompee fought a great battle to beat Sands, the referee having to call a halt to the contest in the seventh round with the Australian almost out on his feet and blood gushing from his badly cut left eye.
Almost blinded with blood and in obvious pain, the Australian was in a bad condition and the referee had no alternative but to halt the bout near the end of the round.

course.
Over fifty girls between 16 and 19 are now taking part in the first course for girls. They come from factory benches, shop counters, offices, Universities etc. The aim of the School is to build up the initiative, self-reliance and ability of youngsters to lead in industry.
The programme includes physical training, athle- tics, trekking, canoing, rock climbing, overnight exercises entailing sleeping in tents, lectures on Mothercraft, principles of home-making, first aid, current affairs and drama-Express Photo.
