A serious fire which broke out in the Luen Wah Printing Firm, 31 Gage Street, ground floor, shortly before 8 o'clock this morning completely gutted the premises, and damaged some of the upper floors.
An old woman of 70 and two young girls were overcome by smoke and were brought out unconscious, while a man suffered serious head injuries when he jumped from an upper floor, of an adjoining house.

An extraordinary general meeting of the Hongkong Electric Com- pany Ltd this morning decided unanimously to capitalise $14,000,000 from the Capital Reserve Account and allocate it as a special capital bonus, free of income tax, to holders of the already fully paid up 2,100,000 issued atares in the form of 1,400,000 new shares of nominal value $10 each, in the proportion of two such shares for every three issued shares held at present. These new shares will be treated as an increase in the nominal capital of the Company, not as income, and will rank for dividend as from October 1951, similarly to the old shares.
