COLONY SWIMMING FINALS START TOMORROW
By
"RECORDER”
The first series of finals in the Colony Swim- ming Championships will be contested tomorrow at the Victoria Recreation Club, commericing at 5
p.m.
Public support is wanted more than ever this year as every dollar collected will go to the financing of the forthcoming trip to Manila for the Interport and the sending of swimmers to the Olympic Games next year.
The standard in local swimming has never been higher and on the performances registered so far in the heats our swimmers would have gained a dozen places in the finals of the British ASA Championships and would not have disgraced our standing even at the recent American Championships.
tho Our chances of winning Interport against Manila, where the standard is as high as ours. Bre very bright.

A new name is likely to be added shortly to the list of athletic world-beaters. It is E. McDonald Bailey who, in Belgrade equalled the world record of 10.2 seconds for the 100 metres.
Three stop watches were on him and all agreed on the time. There was no wind blowing and Mac himself is confident that, unless the track was a couple of inches short, his performance will be officially recognised.
