The China Mail today presents the first of two pages of pictures illustra- ting the activities of the Hongkong Regiment, Royal Hongkong Defence Force.

*

1. A mortar platoon goes smart- ly into action during exercises.

2. Members of a Signals Platoon operating at a base despatching orders and receiving reports.

3. A section of a Mortar Platoon gets down to a real job of work on the Port Shelter range,

!

4. The signallers get out into the front line, and here are two members of a Signals Platoon sending' through' urgent reports to the base.

5. "Are you ready? Fire!" And the Mortar Company lads see that the shell-lands on its target,

6. There's nothing static about the Signals Company. They are here, there and everywhere and use trucks amongst other things for performing their urgent duties. This picture shows how!

7,8 and 9. Here are three studies of the Machinegun Company in action. No. 7' shows them unloading their equipment. No. 8 depicts a gun crew of two all ready for any eventuality. No. 9, another crew mobile, and wholly effective!

All pictures are by our Staff Photographer.
