In the evenings, Mayor Gibbons still supervises instruction in boxing, wrestling, basketball and other gym sports for youngsters. There's dancing, also, and a corps of majorettes rated among the best.

It all started in the autumn of 1930. Six boys had been charged with rifling a penny vending machine. When their case came up, the children's court judge asked Patrolman Gibbons to "keep an eye" on the youngsters.
