Occupation Costs In Germany
Washington, June 20. President Truman's request for $28,920,000 in supplemental appropriations for Germany and Austria is intended to defray occupation costs which could not be forescen when the Ad- ministration budgets were drawn up last year, State Department officiala mld today.

The President asked. Congress on Tuesday for $24,589,000 for German expenses and $4,387,000 for Austria. The funds are to be used to meet the
cost of various occupation activities incurred during the calendar years 1931-82.

The largest single item in the supplementary appropriation request for Germany is $144,653,- 301 to cover the cost of public affaire activities. Another $8,- 542,670 is earmarked for mid- cellaneous occupation costs and $2,670,040 is budgeted to pay administrative expenses
in the U.S. High Commission offies.
The request 'also includes 3020,000 to finance replacement of aliens in "sensitive" jobs in the High Commissioner's · or- ganisation.
